I think that it is not true as verbal abuse is as hurtful as physical abuse, if not worse. While sticks and stones can hurt us physically, words can hurt us emotionally.

No, he should not open the file attachment or buy the medicine. He should check if the information provided is true before making a decision like buying the medicine or opening the file attachment. If possible, he should scan the file attachment with a anti-virus software first before opening the file attachment.
